We are paying the price for our lack of vision

Do you remember the scene in Return of the Jedi when the emperor attacks Luke with lightning bolts and says, “You will pay the price for your lack of vision”?

Well, I could say the same thing about the American people today.

First, we kept deciding to let someone else do the work. Often, we decide to let someone else make the decision. Then, we decided not to bother checking to see if these decisions were good ones or not.

Now, our lack of vision and concern about the future has led us to a place where people are willing to walk off a cliff as long as someone who is called an expert tells us to.

We’ll put who knows what junk in our arms, allow experts to let our electrical grid collapse under disrepair, political actors to use the law to attack us for our beliefs, and turn our children into racist, pornographic idiots who can name 27 genders but cannot make a change or write a coherent sentence.

We are here because we, and those before us, never bothered to consider the future. We thought good intentions were enough and never considered the actions. We are paying the price for our lack of vision, not with blue lightning, but with our freedom and our lives.

Like many of you, I am a product of the public schools. Like many of you I thought the Constitution was for lawyers and judges. One day I read the Constitution, and was surprised to find I didn't need a law degree to understand it. Then I read the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers and even the Anti-Federalist Papers. As I learned more and more about our founding fathers and documents I saw how little we know about how our country was designed to work and how many people just didn't care. I started The Constitution Study to help those who also want read and study our Constitution.
