159 – Pondering Usurpations

Paul Engel

Like many of you, I am a product of the public schools. Like many of you I thought the Constitution was for lawyers and judges. One day I read the Constitution, and was surprised to find I didn't need a law degree to understand it. Then I read the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers and even the Anti-Federalist Papers. As I learned more and more about our founding fathers and documents I saw how little we know about how our country was designed to work and how many people just didn't care. I started The Constitution Study to help those who also want read and study our Constitution.

  1. Paul, I posted this with your Episode 159 today on FB.

I have been reading individual comments about the tracking of people with or without this COVID-19 situation. We are the government that is supposed to We the People, Of the People, and By the People. When a local, state, or federal government will order you to do this without choice, then our US Constitution and our Bill of Rights are being violated at all levels. When we give the governments a precedent without telling us they have the right to do this and say nothing, then we are subjects of the government. I do not want to be a slave to a system that has similarities to the Nazi rule in Germany. When we have officials telling other citizens to report/turn in for what “they” perceive as a good thing sounds like Nazi Germany to me. When a nation does not learn and understand history, then it is prone to repeat the bad decisions. We do not have public servants, we have public masters. I am trying to understand why we believe and allow these things to occur. When we give up our rights in the “name of protection,” then we will be asked to give up more and more.

  2. Thank you Etta. I think you’ll find that I make several of the same comments over the next several episodes.
