Tennessee Bills Would Prohibit Credit Card Codes to Track Firearms Purchases

Both bills would prohibit financial institutions from requiring merchant category codes for a purchase that identifies a merchant as a firearms retailer. Violations would be treated as an “unfair or deceptive act” under state law, with each act constituting a separate violation.
