Warnings of threats to our “democracy” abound. Far fewer are the warnings about threats to our republic. However, while the warnings may be few, the threats are legion.
In the news lately, there have been threats coming from our southern border. Immigration, human trafficking, and drug cartels are a daily part of our lives and the news. Now that Texas is standing up to defend itself, I’m hearing talk of a constitutional crisis, threats to our “democracy,” and even possibly a new civil war.
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is only the beginning.
For over 200 years, the republic has stood strong and weathered the threats against it. We defended ourselves against the British in 1812. We helped defend Europe and the world in 1917 and 1941. We stood our ground against the Soviet Union and the 9/11 attacks. However, after doing all that, it appears today’s Americans are less able to stand.
When it comes to defending our border against not only illegal immigration but also human trafficking and drug smuggling, rather than standing against the threat, the federal government and many of our state governments are standing aside. In the face of federal interference in the 2020 elections and threats of more in 2024, the American people seem to be standing aside as well. We’re also standing aside while our energy systems are being disabled, our nation is being run into bankruptcy, and our children are being mutilated.
Are the American people too weak to stand against the tyranny and servitude they are being led into? Are there still enough of us who have been transformed by these bad times into strong men? For if we want good times to return to our shores, it will be up to strong men and women who know their rights and have prepared to defend and assert them for all to bring them back.
