As a teenager, I learned to navigate an airplane. It was a wonderful time, navigating while my father was few. But the joy of helping came with a serious responsibility. If I did not do my job as a navigator, then we would not end up where we wanted to go. Even worse, I could easily put everyone on board in a very dangerous position. We could run out of fuel, fly into something, or be caught in restricted airspace. While the joys of helping my father as we flew remain a favored memory, so is the responsibility I had taken on.
As we travel the sea of life, we all have a decision to make and a responsibility to uphold. Will we navigate our way through it or be led by others? Too many Americans have given up the chart and compass of life in exchange for the ease of letting others plot their course. However, the fact that we have hired others to choose our path does not divest us of the responsibility of overseeing them.
Millions have stood by and done nothing while the Constitution was tossed aside by those who thought they knew better. We stand by and do nothing with the compass of reason, and rights are thrown into the sea of relativism. And now we stand, lost and adrift, and looking to the same people who got us into this mess to get us out.
However, I have a secret. I have a chart and a compass, and I’m willing to share it with you.
