US Political Creed: If at first you don’t succeed, just go around the law

’m sure we’ve all heard the saying, “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” It’s meant to encourage endurance and perseverance. What happens when people persevere by breaking the law?

It’s the classic “Ends justifying the means.” What I’m doing is wrong but for a good reason. But if you’ve got a pen and a phone, can you simply ignore the law and do what you think is right? Government officials have been doing that for years, rarely with any consequences.

Do the ends justify the means? With so many people justifying their actions by claiming they’re for the public good, that question should be at the forefront of our minds.

How often have we seen a President knowingly violate the law and the Constitution because they thought they knew best? President Obama, when he couldn’t get his way legally, once said, “I have a pen and a phone. If Congress won’t act, I will.” Strange that he never paid any real price for that attempt to overthrow the Constitution.

What can We the People do to protect ourselves from such criminal behavior? The answer may surprise you.

Like many of you, I am a product of the public schools. Like many of you I thought the Constitution was for lawyers and judges. One day I read the Constitution, and was surprised to find I didn't need a law degree to understand it. Then I read the Declaration of Independence, the Federalist Papers and even the Anti-Federalist Papers. As I learned more and more about our founding fathers and documents I saw how little we know about how our country was designed to work and how many people just didn't care. I started The Constitution Study to help those who also want read and study our Constitution.
