In disinformation we trust

When a lie is called the truth, what do you trust? In a recent Pennsylvania panel discussion, Pitt Disinformation Lab Executive Director Beth Schwanke suggested we should simply trust her “trusted sources” and not investigate for ourselves. But when those so-called “trusted sources” have been proved wrong time and time again, can they really be trusted?

When the media tells us that extremism is on the rise in the military, do we trust the media or the survey that says otherwise? When we’re told that the 2020 election was the most secure in history, but when the report on the investigation of the Georgia election claims it was so “fraught with irregularities” that it “should have never been certified.”, what do we do?

When those who have lied to us so often claim the facts and data we find for ourselves are “disinformation,” who do you trust, the liars or your lying eyes? When it comes to these so-called trusted sources, I’ll trust “disinformation” I can prove over the lying sources every day.
