MS NOW Guest Claims SAVE Act Only Allows “Moneyed, White, Straight Men” to Vote

According to recent studies, mandatory voter identification, as outlined in the SAVE Act, is extremely popular, with up to 84 percent of the American public in favor. A very small minority, mostly on the far-left, oppose voter I.D., but with that far-left side taking over the mainstream Democratic Party, including congressional Democrats and their mouthpieces in the liberal media, you’ll hear more unhinged rants against the SAVE Act, like the one from Wednesday’s episode of MS NOW’s The 11th Hour, which has only gotten more radical since the hairless prophet of doom, Ali Velshi, took over the show.
Velshi welcomed Brittany Cooper, an “associate professor of women’s and gender studies and African studies at Rutgers University,” and author of a book called Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower. With that byline already evoking deadly levels of cringe in the hearts of unfortunate listeners, we know exactly what’s about to come out of this so-called academic’s mouth.
Nominally, she was there to discuss Trump nominating Jay Clayton for Director of National Intelligence, but the segment immediately devolved into a TDS-fueled tirade. From calling the President a “ringmaster. . . doing a bunch of attention-seeking things” to describing his actions as “instituting maximum chaos,” there was not a shred of objective analysis to be found.

Co-panelist Aaron Parnas, who had a much more legitimate background in the subject, tried to get in on the fun and actually address Velshi’s questions, but was outdone by Cooper and her raging about the SAVE Act:
I think we have to remember, too, there’s not just a racial dimension to this. This administration is stridently anti-women, stridently anti-queer. And so the SAVE Act also has particular effects for married women.
Cooper also tried to claim Republicans’ goal “was for everybody to become a tradwife.” Despite her credentials as a sexuality studies professor, Cooper automatically assumed that each married woman had married a man and taken her husband’s last name, which Velshi didn’t dispute. Further, she made this claim about what the SAVE Act would result in:
What they want is a world where men make all of decisions, where particularly moneyed men, white men, straight men make the decisions. And so they are systematically moving in ways that make that a reality.
The far left can’t oppose the SAVE Act’s real agenda to prevent non-citizens from voting, because the vast majority of Americans favor it, so instead they make up baseless claims about how the legislation will ban all married women from voting or imply they are too stupid to figure out how to get a government I.D. and use it to vote. From there, they can smear the Trump administration as sexist, despite Trump picking Susie Wiles as the first female White House chief of staff, and the considerable effort the administration is pouring into preventing more brutal murders of young women like Laken Riley, Jocelyn Nungaray, and Sheridan Gorman.

PROFESSOR BRITTANY COOPER: Look, you know, I’m deeply concerned about all of the voter suppression.
I mean, I am from Louisiana. This is the place that this –
ALI VELSHI: Yes.
COOPER: – case has sort of, you know, been staged. But it’s also historically where the Supreme Court used Louisiana to institute segregationist policies.
I think we have to remember, too, there’s not just a racial dimension to this. This administration is stridently anti-women, stridently anti-queer. And so the SAVE Act also has particular effects for married women.
VELSHI: Yes.
COOPER: But I thought that the goal on this side was for everybody to become a tradwife–
ALI VELSHI: Yes, yes–
COOPER: –so I don’t understand why now, you know, we’re seeing young women say online–
VELSHI: Which, by the way, if you get married and you take your husband’s name or you get divorced and you don’t, and you try and vote, you could get in trouble under the SAVE Act.
COOPER: That’s right, that’s right.
And so if your documents don’t – don’t–
VELSHI AND COOPER: –match–
COOPER: –your name–
VELSHI: Yeah.
COOPER: –then you can’t vote.
And this is also evidence, or a reason for us to think about the fact that the things that we do, for instance, to undocumented people and the things that we do around weaponizing access to your documents can affect citizens too–
VELSHI: Yes.
COOPER: –because they have tested this out on the most vulnerable.
But really, what they want is a world where men make all of decisions, where particularly moneyed men, white men, straight men make the decisions. And so, they are systematically moving in ways that make that a reality.
