Chicago man bought and resold soda in $1.5 million food stamp fraud scheme…

Court records detail one of the earliest charged transactions: on November 14, 2018, federal investigators watched Quinones drive to a store and purchase roughly 20 cases of Pepsi using three Link cards.
Prosecutors said from 2018 to 2023, Quinones paid cash to people enrolled in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP or food stamps, in exchange for access to their Link cards and PINs. He then used those cards to make bulk purchases of sodas, water, and snacks at retail stores and resold the goods to convenience stores and restaurants for profit.

Tennessee State House Passes Immigration Enforcement Bill, Legislation to Track Number of Illegal Aliens in Schools

The Tennessee State House on Monday passed two immigration bills as part of the effort to make the Volunteer State a national model for cooperating with the federal government on immigration enforcement.
House Bill (HB) 1704 by State House Majority Leader William Lamberth (R-Portland) would create the new Class A misdemeanor offense of intentionally failing or refusing to leave the United States while subject to a final order of removal. It would also make it a Class A misdemeanor to illegally enter the country, or be found in Tennessee, after previously being denied entry, deported, or otherwise removed from the United States.
