Rights Groups Sue Trump Administration over Proposed Childcare Funding Cuts
The Hill Civil rights groups sued the Trump administration on Monday, after the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) failed to respond to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for records relating to attempts to freeze billions of dollars in federal childcare funding in response to fraud claims. The lawsuit was brought on by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the ACLU of Illinois, the ACLU of Colorado, the National Women’s Law Center and the National Center for Law and Economic Justice. The groups accused the agency of failing to respond to a March FOIA request seeking documents relating to the administration’s funding freeze affecting five Democrat-led states: California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and New York. Democratic Governor Says ‘Software Error’ Registered 6,600 Self-Identified Non-Citizens to Vote
Democratic New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill said Tuesday that over 6,000 non-citizens were mistakenly added to her state’s voter rolls due to a “serious software error.”
Sherrill said in a statement that last week, she discovered a software error in the state’s Motor Vehicles Commission (MVC) had “led to the registration of roughly 6,600 people who indicated that they were not U.S. citizens between June 2023 and June 2024, almost three years prior to my taking office.” She added that the individuals had “answered ‘no’ when asked on a keypad whether they were a U.S. citizen when applying for drivers’ licenses and identification cards, but through no fault of their own, the system registered them anyway.”

The Misplaced Hype Over Data Centers
Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul announced a one-year halt on data center construction in her state, a moratorium The Washington Post called “a striking setback for artificial intelligence companies that politicians once courted for investment but have now triggered public fears about energy prices and water use.”
Piling on, The New York Times reported that electrical grid operator PJM — which serves much of the eastern United States, from North Carolina to Illinois and including the Washington, DC, metro where scores of data centers are already in place — announced the results of a recent auction that would “add $6.3 billion in costs” for beleaguered ratepayers in their region.
