House Democrats Refer Energy Sec. Wright to DOJ for Prosecution for Allegedly Lying to Congress

Two House Democrats referred Energy Secretary Christopher Wright to the Justice Department for prosecution in a letter published Wednesday, alleging that he lied to Congress under oath about climate funding. Wright is the 17th person to hold that cabinet position.
Reps. Zoe Lofgren, D-Calif., and Gabe Amo, D-R.I., accused Wright of lying when he testified in June that billions in climate-related funding were not canceled because it would have largely gone to Democratic states.

Two Illegal Aliens Sue Tennessee over Law Making It a State Crime to Immigrate Illegally

A lawsuit challenging Tennessee’s new law making it a state-level offense to be in the country illegally was refiled last week, after it was dismissed in June for lack of standing. In the new version of the lawsuit, both plaintiffs admit they are in the United States illegally, and have been violating final deportation orders for more than two decades. 
The lawsuit argues that Tennessee’s law violates the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution, claiming that Tennessee created a state immigration-enforcement system for those ordered deported by the federal government, effectively allowing state officials to make arrests and impose punishment without federal approval or oversight.
