(The Center Square) — New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Tuesday that the state will be pumping another $4 billion into New York City to help it plug budget gaps, bringing the pledges of state aid to $8 billion over two years.
In a statement provided by Hochul’s press office, Mamdani praised the governor for the additional pledges of state aid and suggested it was the beginning of a thawing in the relationship between city and state leaders.

A United States Court of Appeals on Tuesday paused a lower court’s order that determined President Donald Trump overstepped his authority with his latest attempt at global tariffs.
The U.S. Court of International Trade ruled 2-1 last week that Trump overstepped his authority by invoking Section 122 of the Trade Act of 1974 to impose a 10% global import duty, which he did without congressional approval.
The move followed days of disruptive protests during a special session to redistrict congressional maps.
